On 16.04.2021 the new project “ConSensE – Advanced Systems Configuration for complexity-reduced sensor-driven development of production systems in the digital age” was officially and virtually launched. It is supported by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) through the funding measure “Mastering the Complexity of Sociotechnical Systems – A Contribution to Advanced Systems Engineering for the Value Creation of Tomorrow (PDA_ASE)” in the program “Innovations for Production, Services and Work of Tomorrow”.
And it is precisely the technical developments of tomorrow that the project is intended to address, as digitization is also increasingly gaining ground in companies. Together with eleven project partners from industry and research, an assistance system is to be developed as a central platform to make it easier to select suitable sensor technology. This should significantly reduce the complexity of human-machine interactions. In addition, the topic of retrofitting will be addressed, which will support the selection of sensors and the generation of data on the basis of existing machines. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in particular are expected to benefit from this, as they will now be able to recognize the added value of technical innovations more quickly with the central platform.
N+P Informationssysteme GmbH is coordinating the project. The Center for Leading Innovation and Cooperation (CLIC) is responsible for the development and prototyping of sensor-based business models as part of a sub-project. The project partners involved bring a wide range of different competencies to the table, which is why the CLIC is eager to see what exciting results will emerge from this project.
One new development has already emerged from ConSensE: Luca Dörr has been part of the CLIC team since 01.05.2021 and is simultaneously employed by the practice partner Wiewald GmbH. This enables her to work directly at the interface of practice and theory and also to help shape the digital transformation on the basis of a medium-sized Leipzig company. This is the first time that this position has been created, which particularly embodies the CLIC’s goal: to build a bridge between research and practice.
We will keep you informed about further developments at ConSensE!
